5 Tips for the Ultimate Indoor Camping Adventure
With June set to be a complete wash out, many people are putting their camping plans on hold for when the sun returns – if it ever does, that is! But, instead of forgoing camping plans, why not have an indoor camping adventure? All the fun of camping out without the possibility of rain dampening your spirits! Here are our top tips for having a great camping adventure in the luxury of your own home.
It’s all about the tent
If you already have a small tent that fits inside your living room, you’re good to go! But if not, there are plenty of ways that you can make your own. Simply push all of the furniture back against the walls to create as much floor space as possible. Create a triangular tent structure from bamboo canes, tie together with string and drape a sheet over the frame to create your awesome indoor tent!
Now that you have your tent set up, it’s time to fill it with your camping essentials:
- Air bed
- Sleeping bag
- Pillows
- Torches
Bring the outside in
To bring a little authenticity to your camping experience, think of some ways that you can make it feel less like a living room and more like the great outdoors. This could be by draping fairy lights over the outside of your tent to mimic the night sky, playing nature sounds through your stereo or having a campfire video on the TV in the background. Don’t be tempted to use the TV for watching anything else, though, as this is all about the genuine feel of camping! You could also open up the windows to make it feel like you are really outside.
Prepare the snacks
One thing that everyone loves about camping is the food! Stick to a menu of what you would usually have on a camping trip, whether that’s a hearty stew, jacket potatoes in aluminium foil or toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. Gather your snacks and eat them in your tent instead of the dinner table.
Tell stories
Camping almost always involves telling stories around the fire at some point or another, so finish your evening off with a round of storytelling. Read a book aloud or tell your favourite spooky story with a torch held underneath your face to give it an eerie glow!
